Community creator Dan Harmon may have his hands full with more Rick & Morty, but he hasn’t left Greendale behind. After the show’s Alison Brie told The Wrap that “legitimate conversations” were happening about a potential movie, Harmon confirmed the news—though he also warned that it might be a minute before said movie happens. “When you put the percentage chances together it’s like you have to account for maybe the world blowing up or another virus happening. But as far as the industry is concerned, this is a matter of when and not if, for sure,” he told The Wrap.

Even Though I Knew the End
Community ran for six seasons, and “six seasons and a movie” (a line from a season two episode) became a slogan for fans who wanted to see more of the beloved show. The original run ended in 2015, and much of the cast have gone on to even more visible roles, including Donald Glover (Solo, Atlanta) and Alison Brie (GLOW). Many of the show’s stars have enthused about the possibility of a movie over the years, and in 2020 they reunited for a fundraising virtual table read.
Harmon told The Wrap, “There’s a story—who knows if we’ll end up sticking to it, but it was something we had to compile in order to take it out and court various venues. And now negotiations happen.” Those negotiations will likely determine where you can watch the eventual film—whether it will be a theatrical release or streaming.
